Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. She was on the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Her reporting included a number of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the arms control. She traveled widely with the president Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
